Are Camera companies barking mad

Today I bit the bullet and bought a Canon 40d

Took a few snaps and then hit a problem

Photoshop CS2 won't open 40d RAW files and neither will PSP XII

What is it with these idiots can't they stick to one format

What to do next ??????

sheesh I need a double whisky to calm down.

Re: Are Camera companies barking mad

I think you will have to download the latest ACR version to open the 40D files. PSP is probably the same.

Re: Are Camera companies barking mad

Unfortunately PSP has never been very good at handling RAW files, and they tend to be a bit behind with new models. At one time Rawshooter Essentials was bundled with PSP, but that's history.

Unless you want to upgrade to Adobe's latest offerings, either Canon DPP or a third-party converter are the best options.

EDIT - ACR = Adobe Camera RAW. I don't know about this, but you may find you have to upgrade to CS3 to get the latest ACR which supports the 40D. ££££££££, but there is another way....

Re: Are Camera companies barking mad

I just use the software that came with the camera process the file and hit convert and save to jpeg and then sort out any extras in CS2.
