Went to see it anyway.......how noisy inside the car....I knew the engine was in there with you , but I thought they could insulate it better than that Another car off the list

Err, Dave, it's French, shouldn't that have set off the warning bells?

Isn't that the point of it, aren't they s'posed to be noisy? Maybe it's time to leave that one for the young'uns, they seem to love the loud cars, infact i've noticed some of them even go out of their way to make them noisier.....Crazy!

Why not look at a Lotus Elise...

Small, sporty, cheap, good looking, quick(ish) good fun and reasonibly practicle...

Lotus. I love 'em, but:

L ots
O f
T rouble
U sually
S erious

Plus, the 'boot' will only house a sandwich, or a D200 provided you keep the standard lens on it.

Nice car. but not practical.

Re: Car Nuts - Any advice on Renault 3.0 Sport ?

Well that was me trying to be sensible Now I've backed out the house my budget is £20K, but I need a car this week. Got the Porsche specialist calling back today to confirm if he has been able to get a 911 (993 model). If not I'm very tempted down the Z4 3.0 route, as a lot of car for the money s/h.....plus I drove one for a day & did enjoy it.

When I was looking around £10K mark I was tempted by Mini Cooper S ....had one when they 1st came out & found it was great to drive.

Tried a Lotus Elise but just too much road noise etc... I have to do a 250 mile round trip in a day once a week, so want to ensure it's not too tiring to drive.

Now of course the M3's have dropped to below £20K .....hmmmmm

You could do worse than an MCS!

Only Renault expereince I had was 3 x 5s! Well, with tinfoil bodywork the power/weight ratio was prety good, so lots fun! And in common with most Renaults, the seats were very comfy!

Be careful with them Dave, we had one and whilst it was a great car to drive they have had a lot of problems with the engine. There are an awful lot of them out there with replacement engines due to oil pickup/feed issues. The problem is that the engine is stretched to the limit for it's size and hence can be prone to breakage, I never understood why BMW put that engine in there.
