I'm overwhelmed!!!
HELP!!! I have been on other boards for years. But this board, for the life of me I just can't figure out. I really would love to participate but can't figure out how to jump in... so here are a couple of newbie questions. 1) How are you uploading pictures? Are you using a host? I have re-sized and re-sized my pics but I keep getting the error message that my images are too large. The same thing with my avatar. I have even re-sized to the exact specs that are required and uploaded from my computer... but again I got an error message. 2) When you want to just post a picture do you have to put it in the gallery? Can you use a specific code like the img code or HTML code? Thanks for helping me in advance. I am frustrated. ![]() |

Re: Don't know where to start...
Hiya
For hosting a lot of people use photobucket, its nice and easy as it usually resizes your pictures when you upload and then gives you the choice of editing it once uploaded. You dont have to put a pic in the gallery to post to a thread, if you use PB above it will provide you with a IMG link hope that helps |

Re: Don't know where to start...
Actually Summerleft most of our regulars take advantage of the free gallery space that Pixalo gives them. Not only does that allow them to recieve comments in the gallery here but it also allows them a chance of being chosen for the Picture of the week award too, both of these things you'll miss out on if you use external hosting services
![]() With regards to uploading to the gallery..make sure your shots are no larger that 1000 pixels along their longest side and the file size is no larger than 200kb. We do have a guide floating around somewhere on reducing your pictures to fit and a tutorial on how to upload. Give me a minute and I will find you the link...

Re: Don't know where to start...
If you are using a version of Adobe photoshop it has the easiest method - Save for Web. There's a slider where you can increase compression and it'll give you the output filesize underneath the photo.

)The correct file size is 200kb max and no more that 1000 pixels for the longest side. Most members use 800 pixels for the longest side to prevent the gallery software doing further compression. |

Re: Don't know where to start...
Not really. If you use your own hosting or pb then you can post your pics at other places. Pixalo have a referrer check which stops you posting your images on other sites.
This isn't a dis. on Pixalo btw, I understand and agree with their decision to do this. Just not keen on the method - not that there is much in the way of choice. |
