Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
Just reported a seller to ebay. I've got my 60mm macro on there for sale, finishing today, and another one has come up for sale and the seller has copied my photograph for his listing!!! I've reported it to ebay, as obiously that's not the lens they are selling. I've also emailed him to tell him to take the photograph off. don't know if he's hoping to buy mine & try to sell it on, but I've now blocked him as a buyer. Bloody cheek.

Re: Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
I had this happen with a Nikon D2H I was selling. A guy put his on at the same time and used my pictures.
I politely emailed to advise him of copyright........his reply was he would contact his solicitor ![]() Hope you get a good price for the 60mm |

Re: Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
Just had email from the seller promising to take the photograph off the site. Just shows you do need to watch out though as the photographs are not always what they seem.
Last 2 on there have gone for £201 and £220. Mine is due to finish in 3 hours and is now at £142.00 so probably won't reach the same price as the previous lenses. |

Re: Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
To maximise the return off Ebay sales you need to make sure the auction ends on the weekend in the evening when more people have PC access.
You did well to end it in the evening, its just about 4 days too soon. Still you have a few hours to go and the price usually jumps up at the end so you could still do well ![]() Best of luck and if you not already done so, you can post the link to your auction in the ebay section of the forum. |

Re: Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
Thanks Steve. The other 2 auctions I looked at both ended on a weekday, so did very well. I'd not planned on getting as much as they had gone for as that is pretty close to a new price for a second hand lens. I've seen them advertised new for £242.00, so for someone to pay £220.00 was just daft.
Got a load more stuff to sell on there, no camera gear though, so will be sorting that out for a weekend evening finish. Photo still not gone from the other advert and I have reported it to ebay, as it is one of the standard complaint questions, so I guess it happens alot. |

Re: Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
Sarah, you could always ask the seller a question so that it shows at the bottom of his listing
![]() Something along the lines of "why did you steal my photo thus misrepresenting your item to the unsuspecting potential buyers" ...include a link to your auction as well so you catch any interested parties |

Re: Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
I did send the seller a question, but unfortunately you don't have to show it on the listing. Not heard from ebay yet. They have put up a photo of their own, but are saying that they cannot delete the other from the advert?
1 Hour to go and still £142. |

Re: Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
I would say sunday night is the best time to end auction. Saturday night is not always as good, as loads of people go out. But evenings during weekdays are good as well. Except for friday.
Hope you did well sarah, don't forget that at the end it nearly always shoots up. Oh and auction needs to end around 9 or 9.30pm. Not earlier then that. |

Thanks Steve, have also had a reply from ebay that they have taken action and looking at the site, the listing has been removed.

Re: Ebay - What a Cheek!!!!
Wow Sarah, you did nearly as well as I did. I bought a lens brand new, used it for a year and then sold it second hand on Ebay.... and got £5 more than I had paid for it new! So I had free use of the lens for a year. Buyer said he was absolutely delighted so I guess we were both smiling
![]() Putting a picture that is not of your own item is allowed providing you state 'Photograph not actual item' but nicking the picture off another sales listing is definitely not acceptable. A lot of listings have internet-sourced pictures on them and that is fair enough as long as they are just the kind of product shots that come from company websites like Canon or something. After all, a picture of a lens might not be easily available to someone if they only have one camera with one lens! But to take it from another private seller without even asking first is very naughty. Problem is, you can't actually edit your listing once it has bids on it and as far as I am aware, you can't remove a picture during the listing but I could be wrong. But as his probably had bids, he wouldn't be able to change it, especially if it was close to completion. Ebay did the right thing in removing the sale listing so the guy will have to start again, with a properly sourced pic this time ![]() Cheers, Rob
