Re: Edinburgh Festival

I've never been to one but it always looks a gas when I see it on TV. Would like to say I'll be there but probably not. Have a good time and don't forget to post some pics.

Re: Edinburgh Festival

Always wanted to go OP, but with a young kid very little chance for next few years. What's your take / experience of the event ?

Re: Edinburgh Festival

well I hate it (but then again i'm a miserable alan!)

i live right smack bang in the middle of it all and it's chaos. you can't move, you can't park and you can't sleep.

I'm sure it's great for the tourists tho

hopefully this year I'll enjoy it much more - especially with the camera.

certainly looking forward to the street performers and fireworks... need to convince a few mates to escort me around town tho... as much as I love the city I wouldn't walk around at night with several hundered pounds worth of photog gear.

whaaaaat! You are a misery, indeed!

Years since I've been but well worth the fortune in petrol, the fortune in accomodation and fortune in alcohol consumed!

Re: Edinburgh Festival

I'll be covering every single day of the Edinburgh Film Festival, and probably a few acts at "T on the Fringe" as well.

The EIFF is shaping up to be a good 'un this year - it's the 60th year of the festival and they're going all-out to make it a memorable one; confirmed talent includes (in order of date appearing)

Laura Fraser, Billy Boyd, Brian Cox, Sigourney Weaver, Steeve Coogan, Charlize Theron, Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Smith, Steven Soderbergh, Samantha Janus, Paul Barber, Gary Mavers, Mark Russel, Brian de Palma, Sir Sean Connery and... wait for it.... Al Gore

Not to mention all the other celebs that usually turn out to support their luvvie pals, plus all the B-list and C-list talent that try to crash these things too.

Like I said: I'll be at all the big press conferences, photo calls and red carpet premiers that will be happening from 14 - 27 August. If anyone's gonna be in the city at the time feel free to drop me a line via my website; other freelancers and staff photographers aren't exactly a fun bunch to hang out with, know what I mean?

That's what insurance, a decent camera bag and taxis are for; I'll be toting several £K of kit around but you'll never see it out in the open except for the red carpet stuff
