Fingers crossed
We're taking our youngest daughter Tiffany (18 months) to the hospital tomorrow to find out the results from the EEG scan she had a month ago. She's had 3 fit's in the last 6 months, the first being the worst where she stopped breathing in front of me and we had top call out an ambulance. That has got to be the worst day of my life so far. After a stop in the hospital and numerous tests, ECG and then the EEG we're hoping that they'll put it down to the fact she can't control her body temperature when she's ill.
I wish I'd taken a camera though to the EEG, the notes before hand said she needed to sit still for 20 minutes, anyone who knows Tiffany would know that's not possible !! Anyway she sat still while the operator placed about 20 sticky pads to her head and attached electrodes / wires to them. She looked like something off Doctor Who. Anyway, thought I'd share what's going on, it certainly makes you think what's important in life. I just hope tomorrow is all clear. ![]()

Re: Fingers crossed
My thoughts are with you Ian .... my stepdaughter was prone to febrile convulsions when she was little ... and now she's fine (I use that word very loosely - she's now 16 and I don't know if any teenager can be considered normal???!!!)
Modern diagnostic medicine is an amazing thing and I'm sure everything will turn out okay. Give your little Dalek a hug for me .... Cathie |

My prayers are with you and Tiffany. We went through a similar issue with my oldest son about 15 yrs ago. The only advise I got back then that really helped was keep your family close to you and take it one day at a time. Best of luck |

Re: Fingers crossed
Hang in there Ian. Every one of us who is a parent knows exactly what you are going through. I do not profess to be an expert, but kids often go through phases of all sorts of nasty stuff and can just grow out of it, sometimes they need a little help.
Hope all goes well. |

Re: Fingers crossed
Well what a complete waste of time
.We turned up for our appointment on time and got called in to see the consultant. This guy had no idea of the previous issues apart from the notes in front of him. He then spent the next 30 mins asking the most basic questions about Tiff's health. The results of the EEG scan over 4 weeks ago had not been returned. After waiting over an hour the consultant came back with the EEG technicians results, no abnormalities found. We still have not seen the results that should have been analysed by the EEG consultant ![]() The finale was the consultant giving us another appointment for 4 months time, and then saying if she has another seizure we should try and video it to help them diagnose.... as if we would start looking for a video camera at that time. ![]() But thanks for all your kind comments, they are much appreciated ![]() Anyway we're off to Devon on Saturday, so we can put this behind us, and hopefully I'll have some more pictures to post on Pixalo. |

Re: Fingers crossed
Oh Ian - what an anti-climax. Why is it that I'm not totally surprised with this news? my own experiences with the NHS are that individuals show such total commitment, but are let down by the system.
The best thing seems to be the report of no abnormalities, so all you can do is to carry on, be vigilant and have hope. You know our thoughts are with you. Hope you have a really good holiday. |

Re: Fingers crossed
I can only imagine how frustrated you must be by this.
![]() Try not to worry too much (easier said than done) and keep your chin up. Maybe there will be some good news in 4 months time! Oh and keep the videocamera handy. The more I think about it the more bizarre that request becomes. Do they seriously expect a parent who's child is having a seizure to run off and get a video camera? Don't think anyone would blame you if you happened to miss recording that event. |
