we have a device thingy that sits on the dash board, it will let me know if a speed camera is commimg up, but, the speed cameras are different know a days, cos they take your reg then time you to the next camera or something so you have to be very careful as this is the new way to catch speeders, be carefull, :0)

Maybe it depends where you are. In the UK most cameras are not of this sort. Areas where they are used have signs saying the cameras track "average speed"

Until december last year, I had a Tom Tom One, Until someone decided to take it, they look for the circle on your window, they then break into your car, because they get lucky, you place in your glove box, whilst you nip into a shop, or a quick visit,to some where, so beware, it could happen to you, I wish I could some how knock off the signal to it, anyway getting back to the question of updates, If you go to the website below, and pay a one off fee, a month, or yearly, well worth the couple of quid, they update every four weeks, a yearly fee, lets you download new data anytime, and as many times as you need, a one off fee allows one download, yearly is best, it used to be free, but they have to spend time managing the site and keep it up to date, excellent site, and lots of info to read. Fees I think are: One download £2.00 Yearly £20.00 take a look.

Also please dont forget to back all your data on original card to another sd card, before you add new data, that way you always have a backup, if you mess up on your original card, the makers will charge you for a repair, if it locks up etc, price of software could be £70.00+
so copy folder and place on new card, and then add downloads to second card.

Think Liam meant the speedsters without a care in the world - and not my mother who got done for doing 33 mph. Maybe in her 70s but she could see road clear, no problem - that is except for speed trap hiding (illegally, as it happens!) behind a car!

What I meant was that "speeding" and "breaking the speed limit" are two only vaguely related things.

"Speeding" is exactly what it says on the tin, driving too fast for the set of circumstances, everything from the weather, to the driver, to the school on the side of the road. It has nothing to do with the speed limit on that road though. You could be speeding at half the posted speed limit, you could not be speeding at 20mph above the speed limit, it depends on the circumstances.

Speed limits are far too limited in their nature to have anything to do with what constitutes speeding. If they didn't they would have to change as the road changes, ever y100 meters or even less. They would be different from one vehicle type to another, they would even be different from one driver to another, not everyone shares the same driving skill level.
Ever notice how you get 30mph limits who's purpose seems to actually be to mark the edge of a town or a village? Notice how all that matters is the political border of the town, not where the town actually is (i.e where the houses actually are). Thats a huge hint there.
Has it ever seemed a little odd to people that one-track country lanes share the same speed limit as major A-roads? Clearly, "speeding" on a one-track lane is often going to involve people no-where near that speed limit.

So, admitedly controversially, I say "speeding" and "speed limit" are only vaguely related. The authorities don't have a speed trap able to actually determine if someone is really speeding or not, they just get a number and compare it to what is often an arbitary limit and call it "speeding", even when it's no such thing at all.

You don't need a speed gun to see if someone is speeding. Average speed camera just catch people driving over a certain limit, regardless of whether that is speeding or not. They won't catch speeders who just happen to be speeding under that limit, even if they are driving dangerously, say in fog or heavy rain or heavy traffic.
