Well I have to sell the last one to fund some more equipment but I dont know how much to ask, its a no name lilac leccy guitar but very good condition and well made cost £200 and hardly used I think its maple.
What should I advertise it as, Im fine with the named ones as have a fair idea but i dont want it going in ebay for £30 or something silly but i also dont know if theres a market for it |

Re: Guitarists I need help lol
SUMMERLEFT, I WOULD SUGGEST YOU PUT IT ON EBAY WITH SAY A £100 RESERVE
AND SEE HOW YOU GO, THE TROUBLE WITH UNKNOWN MAKES IS THERE IS AN ABUNDANCE OF THEM. NOW IF IT WAS A 1950'S OR 1960'S FENDER STRAT, THAT WOULD BE DIFFERENT . I WAS NOT A GUITARIST, BUT I PLAYED DRUMS IN VARIOUS BANDS UNTIL FIFTEEN YEARS AGO. BEST OF LUCK WITH IT |

Re: Guitarists I need help lol
Might be worth trying local ads - trouble with ebay is that if no-one knows what it is they won't be willing to bid. By that I mean if you are bidding on a known make/model you will know the feel/quality etc. but with yours it would take a leap of faith to buy it from a picture.
Bear in mind that you can pick probably pick up a new budget Yamaha strat copy for not much over £100 these days. |

Re: Guitarists I need help lol
With no name guitars, there is always a resale problem, because of brand loyalty. You might not get much for it even if it is a decent quality instrument. Advertise the woods and the usage before the brand, and you should be ok. Unfortunately I'm not sure if you'll make what you might be hoping, but you never know. I wouldn't use eBay though...

Re: Guitarists I need help lol
as Jack says it will probably go for peanuts no matter what quality as its a generic make. Anything worth while has a name on it.
think about it the other way round, would u buy a camera for a lot of money that has no name? there lies your answer. ![]() Fi |

Re: Guitarists I need help lol
You could try selling it thru a music shop, but they will take a cut. They'd advise you of a realistic asking price, + will display it for sale. If you're not in a hurry, this might be an option (and expect it to sit there for some months at least), or if you're in a hurry I'd go with the Ad Trader. Ebay as a last resort, if the guitar is just taking up space

Re: Guitarists I need help lol
Thanks J,Matt and Woody, I wasnt expecting a lot for it something around £80 but we have decided to keep it as it worth more to us being used than sold. It was a birthday pressie but I have to say name or not it far outdoes the Squires and SG we have and thats saying something.
Charlotte OH has decided he wants to keep it now, however I think a respry will be in order if he thinks he is going out of the house with it pmsl |

Re: Guitarists I need help lol
As Woody said put it in with a £100 reserve and see how you got on, nothing to lose, my gf recently put an unbranded cello and flute and got £95 and £40 respectively pretty much what she paid for them and they were both about a couple of years old!
The thing with musical instruments is that even though there unbranded doesn't mean there a pile of poo, if there well made and in good nick people will buy them. So i disagree with Fi's comments about that. The key is to take good photo's of them (shouldn't be to hard as thats your passion) and list them well and if they dont sell well they go back in the cupboard for another 6 months and try again. OK just read about hubby keeping it.......... ![]()

Re: Guitarists I need help lol
A guitar that would only sell for about £50 on Ebay is not worth listing because it will cost you £20 for postage and the buyer isn't going to pay that. You can get lucky and find a local buyer who will collect but other than that I think this guitar is best kept for your family as you have chosen to do.
I have more than enough guitars already so I shalln't put in an offer LOL |
