How do you look?

OK then when I see photographers on the TV they always look unshaven (men

mostly) and unkempt

so is it the norm or do some of you dress nicely for your photographic escapades?

I usually look like everyone else that is up in the mountains. Most of my recent photography has been done on hikes in the Alps so I dress for that instead of dressing for the photography

Obviously if you were doing studio work then it may be different...but here again if you already have a good reputation it won't matter if you are scruffy, unshaven and wearing jeans if your work is professional.

I don't dress in anything special just for photography, just depends on where I am and what the weather is doing but then I'm not professional. If I was employing a professional I would expect them to dress to the occasion as much as possible.

I think you're on to something here. I'm reasonably well dressed most of the time because I have to look professional for work (and photography isn't my main work!)...

But I've noticed the same trend - even fashion photographers often look awful. I reckon most photographers concentrate so hard on what's in front of the camera that they don't really care about stuff behind the camera. That's my take on it, anyway.

For the cycling, usually jeans & t-shirt that won't get too damaged when I'm sitting in the gutter taking the shots

For something like a prizegiving evening, it would obviously be smarter.

I always try to give a good impression so go out dressed smartly but not overdoing it. Normal every day wear is good enough for me and is as follows
Armani Suit
Burberry Shirt and Tie
Cashmere Socks
Hand Made Shoes
And if it a bit cold a
Nicholas Jones Overcoat
As you can see I do not like to stand out too much

I must admit it's not always the cashmere socks there are times I downgrade to a nice nylon/wool mix {but only if I am doing beach photos as I have found getting fine sand out of cashmere is not that easy}
