Internet speed....
After several days of having an internet connection reminiscent of the 56k era, I'm suddenly back to warp speed again. (All sites, BTW - not just Pixalo.) Is it just me or has Tiscali been going through a bad patch (again)?

Re: Internet speed....
I cannot comment on Tiscali but when I started using my Virgin media connection this morning the speed had jumped from 4 to 7 MB
. I had heard that an free upgrade to 10 MB was in the offing. I will have to complain

Are you sure your Broadband supplier says 10Mb. I think they all hedge their bets and quote "Up to 10Mb" or whatever your package is restricted to. Unless you have a line of site satelite broadband link you are at the mercy of a landline between your modem and the nearest exchange. Try googling "broadband speed test" there are many to try and that will give you a realistic down & up check of your broadband but only at that particular time. Also you will find that at certain times of the day the broadband can be very slow. This usually is when its school holidays and when the kids are at home. The system only has a finite capacity and when that point is reached we all have slower downloads.I hope this helps Brian |

Re: Internet speed....
Brian. Thanks for the comments but I had realised that which is why I put the
at the end. I am pleased enough with the 7MB as it is not costing any more than the 4 I had before. To be honest the 4MB was first enough but as they say "more is better" My service always slows down in the evenings due to contention. It often went down to 1 MB I will be interested to see what happens tonight when I get home. Virgin also have a cap system in place if you download too much.
