AS/A Levels
Ok I'm stressed, my son is just taking AS levels this year. He got some great GCSE results but has just done rather badly in his mocks. I'm so stressed, but trying very hard not to get him any more stressed than he is.
It's just so hard, he knows what he needs to get onto the uni course he wants, and his predictions are that he'll get the results, I'm just hoping that the mock results were a blip. I actually feel sick on exam mornings for him. Sorry for this, just trying to let it out without worrying the poor chap. |

Re: AS/A Levels
Thanks Woody, I've told him that he can only do his best and if he doesn't get the grades, well, it's not the end of the world and there are other things he can do. It is very hard being a parent sometimes.

Re: AS/A Levels
SARAH, AS YOU SAY IT IS HARD BEING A PARENT SOMETIMES,BUT YOU ARE ALWAYS THERE FOR THEM, THROUGH GOOD TIMES AND BAD. MINE ARE ALL IN THEIR THIRTIES NOW, BUT ANY PROBLEMS, THEY ARE STRAIGHT ON THE PHONE TO MUM AND DAD.
BUT IT IS EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU HAVE THE GRANDCHILDREN, AS THEY CAN NEVER DO ANYTHING WRONG, THEY HAVE GIVEN ME A NEW LEASE OF LIFE, I ENJOY EVERY MINUTE I CAN WITH THEM. |

Re: AS/A Levels
I've just come back from my German written AS, and have had my French oral, German oral, and Photography exam already, 2 more to go. Even when you know that you know enough for the exam, you are always stressed. If this is your first, then I don't think you should be worried, I mean, it's important, so it's stressful
![]() Mocks often tend to come out worse, because they're taken so early in the course. This means that people haven't even covered half the stuff that will likely come up in the real exam. Take this, for example, we were studying All My Sons by Arthur Miller, but had only just started it after the first book, and we were still examined on it. That isn't fair, and it's only likely that the results don't justly reflect the accumlated knowledge he'll have at this point.

Re: AS/A Levels
I just wish I could help him, but with maths, physics, chemistry and biology, all I can say is Duh!
At least he's happy, a mate has just come round & they've gone off up to the gym to blast themselves for an hour & then the plan is to chill with a movie & back to revision tomorrow. Jack, he is my first and only, probably why I'm stressed, couldn't cope with more than one! Althought we quite often have a houseful of his mates. As for mocks, speaking to a teacher I know from the school, she said that they always mark the mocks harder than normally would be done, although in his january mocks he got 2 A's & a B & then come the exams think he cruised & got a B & 2 C's, which he wasn't too happy about. This time, the mocks were pretty bad, so maybe it will encourage him to push harder. All the best with your exams Jack, hope you get what you want. His mate that came round tonight had 5 exams today Nice to get feedback from someone going through it, thanks.Think I might go and open a nice bottle of wine
