I'm developing a new website for a PR company. They have done some promotional work for various companies (BBC, Porsche etc) and I would like to use their logo's on the site for the client page but am unsure about any copyright issues.

Any ideas ??

I have recently done a similar thing the two ways i would suggest is either speak to the PR company and ask if they had an advertising/promotional clause with these companies allowing them to use the respective logo's for company promotion or the safest way is to approach the companies and ask for a licence to use their logo and get everything in writing. Most companies don't mind if you ask especially if it for a company that has a working relationship with them. They usually want to know what it is for etc and you fill out a form that's it. I would either ask the pr company to approach the companies they wish to use to promote on the site or do it yourself. It covers you as well as the PR company so there would'nt be any problems affecting future working relationships. Good luck hope it all goes well...

I would totally agree with Ralf, approach the companies and seek permission to use their logos. Usually they will agree, especially if you have a good previous working relationship with them, after all it is some extra free exposure for those companies too.

Once agreed you'll just need to make sure that everything is put in writing to say where and for what the logos can be used, that then covers all parties for any possible legal implications.
