Last night I had the most wonderful transatlantic phone call, from my son and his wife, they had just picked up his newborn adopted baby from its mother with the blessing of her family, who were all at the hospital to see them off. He was at last starting the journey home with a brother for his daughter also adopted in America 3 yrs ago,

So after 13 yrs in the UK of paying for every test known to man. Several goes at IVF and the singular disinterest of social services to try to source a UK child, but a great eagerness to charge for everything needed to find one abroad

His family is now complete and I have another grand child, God Bless America.

I had a friend whom tried to adopt in England and was told " you can have a coloured child but not a white one .
Now I don't know about you, but I found that a very racist remark.

So he adopted two coloured children,who will grow up in a loving household,but without the knowledge of their customs or roots which my friend cannot possibly give.

PS congrats on the new arrival, and the good common sense of you're family to get past the red tape.
