The Met Office is forecasting further periods of heavy rain during the next few days. During Sunday, outbreaks of locally heavy and thundery rain are expected to move northwards across the UK and are likely to give some large totals - in excess of 25mm in many areas, and perhaps in excess of 50mm in a few parts. The rainfall is likely to be very intense rather than prolonged. Wales and western areas of England are currently greatest at risk on Sunday, extending to many northern parts later. Some transport disruption is possible. This is the first warning of disruption due to heavy rain. This warning will be updated by around 1200, Saturday 14th July 2007

We bought a caravan about 4 weeks ago........... its not stopped raining since. Off to Devon in the morning, the forecast is not looking good for Sunday

It doesn't seem to matter where you go at the moment. The chap who sits next to me at work is in Skiathos. We got a call from him yesterday, telling us he was sitting on the beach with all his remaining worldly possessions: wallet, camera, 'phone, hat, shorts and sandles! Hopefully the fires will be under control by now and he's been able to retrieve the rest of his stuff.

Still, there's occassionally some good light at the end of the tunnel, as per Thursday night....

We were sat on our balcony at around 6.30 pm yesterday drinking wine and eating cheese after cycling all around Lake Starnburg during the day. The temps in the evening were a warm 42 degrees with not a cloud in the sky and a gentle breeze to ease to heat. Everyday feels like a holiday to me

I really do feel sorry for all the folks in the UK with the terrible rain and flooding. Keep safe people.
