Re: Monthly magazines
I stopped buying mags on a regular basis when I twigged that over around a two year cycle, they repeat the article subjects. Amateur Photographer, Practical Photography, Cars and Car Conversions, Car Mechanics, Motor Cycle, motor Cycle News (weekly) and Motor Cycle Mechanics were regulars for more years than I care to remember.
Now I tend to be selective and only buy a mag if there is something I am particularly interested in. I would rather get a book on a specific topic. I broke this rule earlier this year (after many years) to get a subscription for Digital Photo, partly to get the 'freebies' and partly to get back into the swing of things, especially editing. When I find that there is no longer anything in the mag worth the subscrition, I'll cancel it.

Re: Monthly magazines
I dont bother either unless it has a freebee I am after. The price these days that are charged is over what I am prepared and it seems to me that over half the said mag is filled with adverts

Re: Monthly magazines
I buy Digital Photo, but on subscription as good savings. Used to also get Autoexpress on same basis as cheap, but they upped the fees, so cancelled it.
Noticed the missus had some Tesco vouchers through, with associated leaflet of what they could be used against & there were some incredible bargains against Mag subscriptions. I'm sure Top Gear mag for year was only £15 of vouchers ![]() |

Re: Monthly magazines
I subscribed to Practical Photography for a year at the cost of £36 mainly because I got a free Lowepro Mini Trekker AW II with it, worth about £70ish
I'm also on a plane a couple of times a month, so I tend to pick up a photo mag at the airport... normally either Digital Photo or Professional Photographer. |
