Re: More poxy rain!

We had a heck of a lot of rain here overnight and this morning, but I think other places had even more - including the Severn Valley where they haven't yet recovered from the summer floods.

If this is to be the norm, I'm buying a boat.

Re: More poxy rain!

Drove 100 miles down M5 this morning in terrible rain . It seems roads are flooded back home near cheltenham. I just feel sorry for the poor folk who got flooded before ... they must be dreading the next few days

Re: More poxy rain!

Ick. It's taken OH nearly 2 hours to drive 14 miles home from work.

We have a kitchen window (recently fitted!) that is leaking like a sieve, one of the sashes has decided it can't cope with the deluge and there is some rather sodden looking brick work in the loft room (office, lots of electrical stuff ) - so today has been mainly been spent plugging leaks.

I looked out into the garden just before the light went and we seem to have a pond... we didn't have one earlier! We live on well draining soil on a hill so any waterlogging is usually short lived. I do hope that those in areas prone to flooding escape a repeat of last summer.

The forecast for tomorrow is just as bad... and I have to fly to Manchester first thing. Yuck.

Tempting, but it wouldn't fit in my garage.

Re: More poxy rain!

Mmmm... that still leaves the problem of being about as far away from the sea as is possible at this latitude, and a slight shortage of rivers to get there.

Mind you, the weather is doing its best to change all that, so maybe in a while we'll have a direct aqueous link to both the Atlantic and the North Sea...

... which will just leave the small issue of cost. I imagine that a boat like that is a teeny bit more expensive than, say, something I might consider buying from the local Honda dealer.
