Last night was the Sheffield medic students annual pub crawl called Carnage, around 1400 students in fancy dress on a pub crawl, carnival atmosphere etc and a site to behold.
Anyway There was no way I could physically get into the pub for my pint so the landlord saw me and brought 1 out to me, a mate of mine had got tables set up outside selling cans to the people who couldn't be bothered to fight there way to the bar.
Next thing a male smurf came out of the bar with a female smurf over his shoulder and offered up her backside to me saying smack the smurfs bum, so in the spirit of things I gave her a slap on the ar**, said backside was then offered to the landlord and my mate who both obliged (btw the landlord bats for the otherside). Now instead of getting the sexist pig remarks etc she got us back with a much better comment when she was put back to earth, she turned to male smurf and said " I can't believe you let them do that, you let them smack my ar** and they're OLD.

One of the problems of alcohol is that it makes people say what they're usually too polite (or sensible) to say out loud.

Sheffield is a great place to be a student though, as myself and Silkstone know, amongst others no doubt!

Do you know if they still have the annual Pyjama Jump night? It used to get very messy... basically every student in the city would go on a massive pub crawl dressed in, err, pyjamas. The kind of night where you only need one a year because you get a 364 day hangover after it.

What they don't do in Sheffield any more is have the Rag Day Parade and Boat Race. The former involved dressing up floats and people and racing at high speed down T'Wicker. The latter required you to make a 'boat' for less than 50p and then 'sail' along the River Don which, in the early 1970s, was like paddling through a sewage works. The winner was the last one to catch cholera.

I have memories of running down T'Wicker pushing a pram containing a rather overweight compatriot, until one of the wheels fell off and I was projected at high speed over the top.

For some reason they had to stop all that because of health & safety concerns.

Afraid there is no more pyjama jump night after a few students died.
It has been taken over by the medics pub crawl which is the biggest and then about 15 other smaller ones of around 400-500, goes on for about a month then things kinda get back to normal.
