My First Ghost Hunt
Well my Sister & Niece decided to get involved in organising ghost evenings and as it was their first event last weekend at the York Castle Museum I decided to go along and see what is was all about
The event was held behind closed doors between 6.00pm until midnight. First off we were shown around the museum with all the lights on. ![]() It was an interesting museum which is set up with all Victorian shop fronts and street scenes. After our tour round, some light refreshments the lights were turned off and away we went to see if this place was as haunted as reported First visit was into the street where I went on my own and sat in the building with the black door on the left in this picture. ![]() I sat in total darkness waiting for something to happen......nothing did but plenty seemed to be outside........part of the group had picked up on a small child playing with a hoop in the street and was quite playful when asked to move in and out of where they had pointed thermometers.......I managed to move to the door of the building but didn't witness anything We then moved down to the cells that formed the original building. ![]() We sat in the cell that Dick Turpin was reported to have been held in and called out to ask if any spirits were with us (I didn't say anything I was only overseeing things)......there was a long bang from down the corridor but when asked to do it again nothing happened. We then moved further in to the cells and again asked if any spirit persons were present.......a very noticeable scratching was heard on one of the cell walls asked again if that was a spirit person the same happened. It was at this stage I decided to go and sit in front of one of the cells on my own in total darkness and see if anything happened......nothing did. So at the end of the evening and after several members reporting having had ghostly contacts/sightings, the only frightening thing for me was when someone turned out the toilet lights and I peed on my foot........thoroughly enjoyed the adventure though So anyone had a ghostly experience? |

Re: My First Ghost Hunt
I've done a couple of all-nighters at Hermeston Hall which is supposed to be one of the most haunted houses in Britain - it even featured on Most Haunted. We has some majorly creepy experiences in one of the rooms that is s haunted by a de-frocked Bishop - apparently I was jabbering away in a voice that was not my own...and I have no recollection of it at all.
We had a seance and there was very definitely a presence there and I was struggling to breathe and was rocking back and fore - one side of my brain knew what I was doing and was thinking how ridiculous it was bt the other side of my brain was in a place I would really not like to go to again. We have hundreds of photos with orbs in them.....orbs are supposed to be the first sign of a manifestation but I suspect that the experts here would argue that there is a technical explanation for them! |

Re: My First Ghost Hunt
ghostely or unexplained experiences?......... too many to go into, but i have been physically picked up and thrown across a room.
probably the most recent was when i took some friends from down south on the "city of the dead" tour in edinburgh into the covenanters prison. The guide split us up into two groups.... those over 5'6 and those under.... with the tallest group going in the Black mausaleum first........... I was in the first group with all my friends in the second group. As we were walking in i heard heather call out "good luck" and i obviously thought she was being smart......... after the tour we went down to bobbys Bar and were talking it over... Heather said that all she heard was me shouting out her name when we were in the mausualeum....... of course i looked at her as if she were daft cos i had done no such thing.... and then i said i had heard her shouting good luck........... to which she replied............." I didint.... no one said anything when you were going in"...............strange........... but true..... Fi |

Re: My First Ghost Hunt
Well went as a sceptic and after last night I have come back as an even greater one despite an unexplained stone/pebble thrown and a lady who insisted she kept getting visible orbs on her camera phone
Still I thoroughly enjoyed it sat in an old prison cell all alone in total darkness and I am looking forward to the next one at a Museum here in Sheffield |
