In addition ask your bank to change to "chip" & "sign" cards, so they can't shaft you if your card gets nicked !!!

What's that then - I didn't think you could sign if it was a chip & pin card?

Matt.

Re: Nationwide Building Society cops massive fine

That's what the banks want, as it keeps their overheads low. But for many older people who couldn't remember pins, they had to provide the same cards, but with the option to sign instead.

Now after watching various consumer programmes recently, where banks have refused to re-imburse customers who's cars have been stolen & then money removed from their accounts, the banks get out clause is because it's chip & pin, you are at fault. The legal experts state that with signature only methods, the banks will always have to pay out.

Anyone can request this option....whether the bank will provide it, is another option. But looking at how easy it is to doctor a card reader in a shop to send all your details & pin to the crooks, it does make you wonder !!

Re: Nationwide Building Society cops massive fine

My Visa card is pin blocked. When checkout staff complain I tell em "it's not chip and pin" & they accept my signature instead...

/me shrugs
