New Joe Satriani album - Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock
Downloaded it on iTunes yesterday. I quite like it. It's not revolutionary like his really early stuff, but what is going to be nowadays?
Anyone else got it (I can guess the answer to that )?It's worth a listen even if you're not into that kind of stuff, especially the song 'Come on Baby', that can't not appeal to anyone ![]() .......Anyone? ![]() ......Mark? ![]() ![]() |

Re: New Joe Satriani album - Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock
That's what I like to hear. Interestingly, on the song 'Overdriver', I dunno how much you know about music theory, but would you not have preferred him not to make it all kind of 'soft' in the middle. He starts off with a really cool pentatonic riff, and then does something interesting (phrygian dominant and lydian I think), but then goes into this 'pansy' sort of playing, where I think it should keep up the beat and be a bit more 'rocky / 80s hair metal'-y.
What thinks you? |

![]() Have absolutely no idea what you're talking about (so you could've made it all up, for all I know!) but I do know what I like (I've never been one to analyse why I liked a piece of music! ) |

Re: New Joe Satriani album - Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock
SHAME ON YOU LOT.
Joe Satriani is the greatest guitar player ever. This is not debatable. There are faster, and more technical - but only by very small amount anyway - but none can equal the melodic capabilities and unbeatable tone. I don't think I've met anyone who doesn't like at least some of his work. Look him up It would be worth your while ![]() |

Re: New Joe Satriani album - Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock
Very good, probably not what I'd have chosen if I were trying to choose something to appeal to everyone, but it's a great song indeed. I bought the Limited Edition 20th Edition of that album today in fact.
What did you think? (honest) ![]() |
