With so many different reports on the state of the NHS, with the inevitable politcal spin also, has anyone any idea what's going on ?
For years the UK NHS service has been the envy of other countries ....is that still the case ? The goverment tell us they are ploughing in more money than ever, yet we have Junior doctors calling for the resignation of MP - Hewitt Anyone have an opinion ? |

Re: NHS - What's your views on the state of the service
mmmm as I work for the NHS i could be biased...
there is way too many cheifs and not enough indians. the money is going into it alright but its not being spent on what it should. Consultants were given a package that meant they were getting more money, but they havent done the extra work that their side of the bargain was meant to produce. in fact many of them are doing less...... and when u have a consultant that discovers there is an empty slot on his clinic and asks you to phone up one of his private clients to come in and fill the slot it begs the question..who is actually running the show? Every member of staff in the NHS is being expected to do more and more in the same alloted time scale and its not physically or even humanly possible yet they wont take that as an excuse. They could not organise a **** up in a brewery. however.... its still the best we have and far better than a lot of countries and at least we dont get denied medical attention cos we cant afford to pay for it. both Alan ( as a nursing assistant and now a student nurse) and I have had numerous run ins good and bad out side of the fact we work for them..... I had to argue for 4 years the fact that my son had something seriously wrong with him and according to three of their paeds consultants he would grow out of it... the outcome. he spent a year on blood pressure medication at 6 year old and had a kidney removed at 7.......... on the flip side i had spinal surgery and only waited three weeks for the surgery and couldnt have had better treatment........ its the luck of the draw. and the majority of staff do the best they can in any given circumstances.....BUT the folk who run the show dont really know what its like at the front line..... cos they dont spend time there they stay in their offices making decisions that they have not the first clue about who is going to implement them or how they are going to be implemented........ ok thats my off the soap box.... who is next?
