"No signal" advice......

Last night we had a thunderstorm so I switched off my PC. When it was over I switched on the PC and there is no signal to the monitor. I have checked the monitor here at work and it works fine. I know it might be that a surge has fried the

video card (GeForce 5200)
mobo
PSU

or a cable is faulty. Any other thoughts before I take it apart tonight would be appreciated.

Re: "No signal" advice......

Have you tried the power lead from your monitor in your pc at home to see if it powers up?
Just thinking that maybe the fused may have poped.
If you can get a couple spare power leads from work and replace your cables at home.

Thanks for replying davey. All the correct lights on my PC light up just as if it's booting normally. I'll take a complete set of cables from work and check them tonight. My gut feeling is that the video card has gone.

Try taking the card out and reseating it sounds daft but sometimes it works if you can use another slot.

If all that fails then I think your cards taken a nose dive
