Yeah, it could've been nasty. Luckily the tide wasn't quite as high as feared Tidal surge hits the coast of East Anglia - Telegraph

I gather Rotterdam closed their surge barrier for the first time and Denmark, Germany and Norway were all on flood alert

knew it was coming as North Sea oil platforms between here and norway were evacuated on Thursday in advance of the severe storm warnings.
