Just had the misfortune to have the brake pedal go to the boards on a Peugoet 407 with a burst brake pipe , not mine but someone elses pile of junk Just lucky it did it before he had the car back!!
Still at least the handbrake seems to work.........................thankfully!

I had an Austin A40 that was like that all the time. Leaky master cylinder. You could use the footbrake twice before having to bleed the system. Amazing I'm still here really.

My only experience was when I hitched across the 'States, got a lift in a truck and was asked to drive for about 300 miles. When we swapped back the guy asked me how long the brakes hadn't worked properly to which I replied that I thought they were meant to be spongy!

Luckily he was a mechanic, had all his tools in the back so we pulled into a rest stop, stripped a wreck of it's brake pipes and were back on the road in a couple of hours!

Had my first car, a cortina, lose pressure on brakes down a motorway once Had to pump the brakes to try & get some pressure back before finding a garage to top the fluid up

I thought brakes on a Cortina were an optiional extra. Police had Volvo T5s and they couldnt stop them either braking from 140mph soon saw the pedal disappear. Funniest thing i saw was a Volvo estate on its roof on the embankment on the M4 with the bloke stood there brushng himself off!!
