Being a home worker for last 3 years I found this story of interest :-

The article makes an interesting read but the replies underneath are a better talking point I feel. There seems two sides to the debate and they revolve around the current house prices and standard of living in the UK (from the commuters) and the environmental issues like global warming and green house gasses (from the non commuters).

People are saying that they are getting a better standard of life by commuting as they have better homes (in some cases any home as UK prices are beyond their means) and more time to spend with their families...that is a big draw.

Work / Life balance seems to be more important these days.....is for me.

Saw a report the other day that they reckon house prices will continue to climb dramatically in next 10 years. 1st time buyers don't stand a chance, so this may be the start of a huge social change in the UK. If you can afford a decent house abroad vs nothing here & still work for an UK company....why the hell not ?

Only thing holding us Brits back is our appalling record of learning another language whilst at school.....includes me
