Posting Comments on Images
I have several images in my galley that appear to have been viewed numerous times. No one appears to have left any comments, either bad or good?
It would be nice if someone would, if only to say its Rubbish or Good. Feedback is always welcome, why not engage in some ?

Re: Posting Comments on Images
Hi Bassington, I have been a member here for some time now and in my gallery I have many images that have been viewed over 100 times with no comments left also, I think that sometimes they are viewed by people who are not even members and so can't leave any feedback.
Be patient, im sure someone will leave some comments.

Re: Posting Comments on Images
Hi Bassington. I think having a Photo Sharing, Photo Critique & Gallery section sometimes confuses people as to where to leave comments. The longer standing members have been used to the 1st two options for a while now, with the gallery section only being available from May this year.
It's a good point though & a helpful reminder to everyone to have a look at some of the latest additions on a regular basis & provide some feedback if possible. As photographers it's one of the most useful ways to get feedback & potentially improve on ones skills Out of intrest when you view others shots what makes you consider leaving feedback or not ? Finally if you have a specific shot you would like critique on, then please feel free to post it in the "Photo critique" section of the forums. Hope this helps. |

Re: Posting Comments on Images
Have posted some responses on your Photo's Bassington. I think some people may have missed your shots within one of your sub galleries.
As Gary stated, your post count would also include un registered people viewing your shots, so don't feel too dis heartened at lack of response. Now you have to leave a response for everyone elses shots

Re: Posting Comments on Images
My galleries are the same. I wonder if the title 'Member's Gallery' implies that the collection is, not exactly private, (obviously as anyone can look), but perhaps not there to be commented on. I also welcome comments (subject to the normal rules, of course!!) as said, it is a good way of finding out how others see your work, and if the concept you had in mind actually comes across to others.
The provision of the photo sharing and critique forums possibly inhibits people from adding comments to photos in the other sections. |

Re: Posting Comments on Images
Ok many thanks for taking the time and interest to reply. I acknowledge the possible confusion that some viewers may have, on how to leave/post a comment. Perhaps that is somthing the site administrator(s) might give some thought to?
I will as requested post my comments to images in the various catagories. Cheers and thanks again for the kind interest. Bassington |

Re: Posting Comments on Images
I know when a picture pleases or interests me ,but i do not feel that i am experienced enough to comment on the technical side .Upgrading my ability to produce good shots is my aim, any comments or constructive criticism is a great help.If people are viewing my work in reasonable numbers i suppose it must have some merit

Re: Posting Comments on Images
Hi Bassington - an interesting point and I have two thoughts here. Firstly I can go into the gallery one day and see one new shot so I take some time over viewing and leave a comment. Other days I go into the gallery and maybe three members have posted half a dozen each and I don't necessarily view each one never mind comment.
The second thought is that members might just scroll down to the shot view it, and then return without scrolling down to the comments section. Either way you've given us food for thought but as has been said if you have a specific shot for criitique then use the Photo Critique Forum. Finally, if nothing else, it has made me remember that people post shots to get some feedback and to know that someone has viewed their photograph. So Mea Culpa - I wil try to comment more. |

Re: Posting Comments on Images
Taking up Foxesbrew's point about not feeling qualified to comment, I know exactly what is meant. But I think anyone can have an opinion, even in general terms. I have average technical knowledge, and my comments often are around composition, or the structure of the picture.
All feedback is useful, if only to see if what you were trying to convey has been interpreted in the same way by others. At the end of the day (next assignment theme?) it is only an opinion, and anyone's opinion is as valid as anyone elses. I showed a photo of my Grand Son (yawn...) with a tight crop to a non-photographic friend at work, and he criticised the fact that I had slightly cut off the top of his head. I thought it worked well. It is here in my albums if anyone else want to chip in. http://www.pixalo.com/gallery/data/5...Coolpix885.jpg. The print was cropped a little tighter to cut out the irregular blanket line at the top.
