Hiya, thought I might share the website I just quickly concocted to show my grease photos to the school.
Wrote ALL the code myself (obviously)

you should probably make separate thumbnails on the index page instead of using the original images. a 15+ second page load on 8mb dsl doesn't bode well for those less fortunate

Yes you are right about that, however, the reason I did it that way is cos I just linked to the images I had already previously uploaded, and couldn't really be bothered to upload thumb-size ones, as this was just a very quick thing for school, at which they have broadband anyway . Good point though, and may do that in the future.

Yes! Just saw that. This is the problem with using the "position:absolute" tag, I imagine right about now you have stopped caring but yes will fix that now, the border is just 1px too wide (They're not on the images you see....)

Regarding the gallery I fully agree with orangepeel that you should not have the full size images loading on the index page. I understand that its for a limited audience but strictly speaking that's not true as already you have members from here viewing it too

If you want more functionality with very little effort take a look at some of the free gallery software packages that are available in our download section. There are some great ones in there that are very easy to set up, will make thumbnails automatically and some even offer many other features such as slideshows, exif information, email to friend etc.

If you instal one of those you could then make galleries for different events at the school and keep everything simple for the future while reducing your workload at the same time

Thanks for moving it. And, at the risk of sounding a little ponsey, I am totally aware of the other gallery softwares, I have a very sizeable chunk of them downloaded, and my gallery site, (in sig), is indeed made from one of them, however, I did it this way party for time saving, and partly for the satisfaction of making my own site and having absolute and complete control over it; well, mainly that.
Anyway, I said I might get around to resizing the pics shown on the site, but currently don't have a huge amount of time to do so.

Hehehe true, but I am not bothered for now It isn't a commercial thing, and so I can pretty much do with it what I like! Really more a bit of fun than anything, to test my website-building-from-scratch skills!
