stock photo's
Just to give a typical example of a stock photograph for you all that are interested. The shot below is by no means a great photograph, but it is a good stock image, this has just sold for £85.00 for a quarter page inside / educational book, 2000 print run.
It also goes to show that you do not need to put your images onto microstock sites which pay pence for your images.

Re: stock photo's
Right I'm definitely going to get my stuff onto stock sites... I take it this was Alamy Gary, or was it a different one?

Re: stock photo's
This was Stock Photography images buy photo stock images Photographers Direct they only take a small percentage AFTER you have been paid. they also send out and update requests daily from picture buyers so you can in effect take photos that are actually in demand now.

Re: stock photo's
Pd seems very good, they star rate buyers etc and give advice on how to deal with buyers etc.

Re: stock photo's
Thanks for the link Gary. I've been looking to find a way of earning some pocket money from my hobby and signed up to Alamy and Featurepics and there is a big difference from one site to another.
I looked at a photo on Alamy which I considered to compare to a favourite photo of mine that I've taken and I got a price for one A3 size print. The amount was huge at £380 yet looking at images on Featurepics you can buy an image for as little as $5. Of course you can set your own prices when selling but knowing what your images are worth isn't easy. You want to sell but not undersell yourself. Well done on getting the £85 for the image. Your link is in my favourites. |

Re: stock photo's
Gary forgot to mention a key point about Photographer's Direct, something that also applies to most of the other non-microstock sites.
If you have ANY images on ANY microstock sites, Photographer's Direct will not even consider your application with them. You will be instantly denied, regardless of how incredibly great your image submission was. The same goes for MyLoupe. At present, Alamy doesn't have any issues with you being a member with both, but I'd be surprised if that didn't eventually change. |
