Re: Stolen Gear
Sorry for your loss, however posting the full details here (as you have done) will help should someone be offered 'to good to be real' prices on the gear. Luckily you are covered but I would love the theiving scum to be caught and punished properly.
Sorry that you first post here is under sad circumstances, I would like to offer you a warm welcome anyway. |

I sincerely hope you do get at least some of it back ... you never know. You might keep an eye on ebay + such like, where they might try to sell it

Re: Stolen Gear
Really am sorry to hear of your loss DZ, I know how I would feel if I lost mt gear and I haven't got a 1ds!
One very important point your post mentions though which hopefully will be of importance to others: ALWAYS STORE YOUR SERIAL NUMBERS somewhere safe in case you need to make a claim. You stand a far greater chance of getting your insurance company to play ball if you have these to show you are genuine and haven't added the odd lens or two to try and get a bit more from them. A photographic record is also VERY useful so that you have absolute proof they were in your posession and also they were in top condition so they can't claim you deserve to lose 75% depreciation! If they try that, go for replacement items. Tell them to find you a replacement instead of giving you the money. If you do that, they usually say 'Well, YOU find the replacement and send us the details.' Either way you get the replacement paid for :o) So desperately sorry to hear of your loss, am delighted that you had the sense to have it fully covered and hope you'll be back in action very quickly. In the meantime, if I see a Denmark listing for any of these items on Ebay, I'll check it out for any serial numbers. Cheers, Rob

Nightmare DZ, sorry to hear about this.
At least your completely covered by the sounds of it, out of interest will you replace everything like for like, or maybe make a few changes? |

Re: Stolen Gear
hi guys, again thank you for all your kind words of support.
to answer some of the questions raised: i did not have photos of my gear (wish i had now) but will now do this. great idea. when or if i get paid out i will make some changes. a 1ds mk2 is on the cards and if i clear my bank out, maybe a 400mm 2.8 l is with a x1.4 converter instead of the 300mm. i will get another 5d because i think there great. the 1ds has seals and build of a tank but is heavy. the 5d lets me get one handed shots when i need to. the thing im going to hate about all this new gear, is learning to 'tune in' to all the lenses and cameras. i shoot alot a 2.8 without flash in low light conditions. depth of field is so narrow at this end it takes forever to start getting sharp pics. oh! and the bloody subject keeps moving to add insult ho hum, and so it goes. cheers guys for all your help and support, talk real soon T

Re: Stolen Gear
LOL, nice try DZ, I am genuinely sympathetic to your situation with your gear stolen... that would have me with murderous thoughts to repent of!
But there is NO WAY I am giving you ANY sympathy at having to get used to using a 5D, a 400mm f2.8 and a 1ds Mk ll!!!! LOL, if it becomes an insurmountable problem you just can't overcome, send them my way and I'll gladly save you the bother by getting used to them myself. I'm always glad to help out Cheers, Rob |
