Lol, great minds think alike!...
Kinda on day 1 here too, nothing planned, I just ran out of ciggy's last night and decided to see how long I'd last cold turkey. ![]() Have to admit I'm starting to get it tight at the moment! ![]() |

Re: Stopping Smoking
If you'd like any advice on how to stop, I've had lots of practice.

Re: Stopping Smoking
OH has just started giving up using patches and they make his skin itch as well.. although only for 1/2 hour or so.
I really need to be thinking about giving up as well....but not today. Not after the day I've had. |

Re: Stopping Smoking
I'm one of those sanctimonious bar stewards who has given up a 40-a-day habit and been clean for several years now. But let me give you 5 thoughts for genuine encouragement...
1. It IS hard but it is NOT impossible no matter how long you have smoked for and it IS soooooo worth it! 2. You WILL enjoy good food so much more as your olfactory system starts working again! 3. A 20-a day habit equates to roughly a fiver a day. Put another way, a brand new Canon 17-40mm L series lens can be use in just 2 months and 22 days! Just stick the money you would have spent on your ciggies in a SEALED jar or other container. 4. You will no longer smell like a very bad day in hell! 5. You will get to be the one posting this reply to the next bravehearts who do the sensible thing and give up ![]() Cheers and Good Luck, Rob

Re: Stopping Smoking
Saturday will see me having got through 4 years from 60 a day.
Was it worth it well hell yehhhh Before I gave up I never went on holiday, I stank like an ashtray and was everyone who smoked's best friend. In the four years since I gave up I've been in a Spa hotel in Malta at a cost of £2500 for two weeks, and been back on cheaper hols twice since. I've put a new bathroom and kitchen in my house. I wouldn't have been able to do any of the above. If your unsure about giving up then go and get an ashtray with dimps in it, put about two tablespoons of water in with them and leave to mature for an hour. Then taking your life in your hands stick your nose in it and take a real deap breath. I can assure you that if you smoke thats what you smell like. Tonight I went and picked up some disks from my best mate who still smokes, he smoked two ciggies in his Den and when I got home I could smell it on my clothes. DO yourselves a favour and stick with it. Just watch how much you eat when your taste buds come back to life. One little tip is that Nicorette 24hr patches don't make you itch, and much against whats been said they don't cause bad dreams. You get up not needing that first fix in the morning. Remember one good peice of advice NEVER smoke with a patch on you can KILL yourself through nicotine poisening GO FOR IT YOU WON'T LOOK BACK ![]() |
