Terrorism
I've just read a poll of People on whether their worried about Britain's terrorist threat and it was very split down the middle with 'sometimes' being marginally the biggest response!
So does it worry you? Me living in Dorset on the south coast i would say we're reasonably safe here but i am off to London a week Monday for a day out. Now for it doesn't worry me that much obviously you always have it at the back of your mind but I'm of the view that at the present time with the security level raised to critical its probably in a way one of the safest times with everyone being on high alert and extra vigilant, its when everyone drops their guard slightly that these attacks rear their ugly head. Saying that if a foreign looking chap was to sit next to me on the tube with a big rucksack looking a bit troubled i might be inclined to change carriages (or underground lines) quickly! (sad i know but i would be weary of this for real) Now on the other hand my gf is a lot more concerned and wonders if we should cancel! So what do others think, is this whats its going to be like for the next god knows how many years???

Re: Terrorism
Have to say that if you start running your life based upon someone else's timetable you may as well stay in bed (after all, you may get run over crossing the road a FAR more likely outcome than being a victim of terrorism!)

Re: Terrorism
I think we should all keep our eyes out for those little things that might hint of trouble and report them if we see them. What we don't want to do is over-react, because that's what these silly little people with their petty minds want us to do.
Mind you. if it's true that the security forces have 2,000 suspects on the go, wouldn't it really help to publish their names, addresses and photographs so that we could all watch out for them? A lot of the problem is that we don't know who the real troublemakers are, so we're nervous of anyone who looks a bit odd, which is once again just what these people want. Of course, you could always carry a pork sandwich about your person and offer it to anyone who excites your suspicions.... ![]()

Re: Terrorism
To me, "terrorism" is only something to worry about when you are talking about "professional" groups that know enough about what they are doing to be able to carry out a prolonged campaign of attacks.
Lots of petrol in a car doesn't really fit the bill for me. Sure, it's effective, but it a bit amateur, if you know what I mean. It give me the idea that if the people who did this are that amateur, then they won't have been able to cover their tracks all that well, and will be, at the very least, under enough surveillance by now that they won't be able to do anything more than blow up a balloon from now on. The fact I don't live in London helps, of course, but even if I did, there are far bigger "threats" there than any terrorist attack. I would worry far more about London drivers killing me, for example.
