Tips for submitting to newspapers? Thank you Pixalo!

So today I happened to be coming home from a few errands when I got stuck in traffic. An EMS unit was coming out of the central station. A second, and then a third followed behind. They weren't going overly fast (maybe 5 over the limit), so I was rather confused. The closer I got to home, the more I figured they were just headed back over to the North station. Go figure, there's a crazy accident at the major interesection right around the corner from my house. I didn't have my camera, so I ran home, got it, and came back.

Got there just in time for the money shots.
1 - Paramedics doing their thing, making sure everyone was ok
2 - Police placing one of the drivers under arrest
3 - Firemen cleaning up the crash, armed with hoses in case of any gas leaks

I'm pretty sure the guy that got arrested was slightly inebriated, which is really pathetic considering it was at 11:45 in the morning.

Well, first huge question that came to mind was how the heck do I submit them to the county paper. I remembered the tutorial here, and it worked like a charm. If they print any of the shots, I'll get the typical freelance rate for each one printed. As there wasn't much on the news tonight, I'm thinking it may get some good coverage in tomorrow's paper.

Until then.. ::keeping fingers crossed::

Btw, if anyone is interested.. here's the gallery:

Well, nothing in today's paper about it. Maybe tomorrow?
Hey, I'm still excited that I got right to the person who was in charge of this sort of thing. More excited that I was treated professionally by that person. I think what got the guy's attention was the mention that there were no other photographers at the scene.

Published or not, I still grabbed some great shots I can use for my stock portfolio on Alamy.
