....do I never have the camera with me when a perfect photo opportunity arises?

The sky is black with impending rain but the sun is still shining, and it's shining right onto the white sails of the windmill which are glowing against the black sky. On top of that, there is a double rainbow behind the windmill.

I've snapped it with work's Olympus point and shoot but I don't hold out much hope for any decent shots. I must learn to have my camera with me ALL THE TIME!!

i know the feeling Angela, manys a time i have said the same thing, unfortunately there aint no way im gonna take my camera to work with me!

Dont think i would be allowed to anyway and im not about to leave it in the car

I could say that it's 'cos you're female............. a Womble................ and Welsh but instead would suggest you get used to the work camera.

I found my little mobile camera perfectly adequate for taking the odd shot in Oz. In fact some were pretty good!

This has happened to all of us at some time, the perfect scene/photo and no camera to capture it with.

This alone is a great example and excuse to buy a decent (but small) compact digital camera. The modern ones are regularly 6mp or higher, have many manual settings and can return stunning results. All for very little cost and if you chose wisely it will be small enough to carry everywhere with you.

On saying that I would still like to see the result from the Olympus

You're right Steve, I should carry my little Nikon Coolpix with me. Note to self - get batteries charged!

Will get the snaps from the Olympus up when I get the camera back which is currrently out on official duty!!

I grabbed someone's camera on pain of death by a thousand cuts when I unexpectedly got to meet Princess Diana. Well, I did it nicely but there were menacing undertones in my voice that suggested it would be a REALLY good idea to let me take a couple of shots!

As it happens, one came out absolutely perfect and the other, when she shook my hand (yes, really!) is so close it is out of focus but it is still clear enough to know without a doubt who it is.

I still haven't washed my hand but must admit it's smelling a bit so might have to soon.... after all it was 17 years ago!

But come on, how much credibility would I have had if I had said that morning 'Oh, must take my camera today, just in case I bump into Princess Diana!' :o)
