Well i dont have time to put it up at the moment but got a photograph of Anne Foster-Chia arriving at court yesterday and today it has been used in various formats by the Yorkshire post and sheffield star. She got sent down for 2 years for driving whilst playing with her mobile phone crashing and killing an 80 year old women.

I entirely agree with the sentence, and it could have been higher. But it makes my blood BOIL when I see wealthy businessmen walking free from court after being found guilty of having an accident due to drink driving. For me, the crime is the same whether they end up hurting someone or end up killing someone. It is only their good fortune that left their victim alive, what the criminal did was exactly the same. Time to stop calling it 'death by dangerous driving' and call it what it really is: murder!

The number of people who are still using their phones in their hands while driving is staggering. I see people every single day doing it despite it being made illegal quite a while ago now. The police recognise it is impossible to do anything as they simply are not able to prove a person was using their phone quickly enough. They are not allowed to check phone records to see unless another crime has been committed or they have had an accident. If a person is stopped and insists he wasn't on the phone, the police cannot do a thing so they just laugh and get away with it.

I do NOT condone criminalising every action that takes a hand off the wheel, that is OTT and stupid. But when they do something that obviously takes their attention away from the road for more than the briefest of moments, then serious consequences should result. You can't stop people turning their radio up or down and stuff like that but sending text messages, talking on the phone while holding it and lighting a cigarette using the car lighter should all be considered dangerous maneouvres.

I confess openly to being biased on the drink driving issue as I grew up never knowing my older brother and sister who were killed by a drunken driver.... and the moron didn't go to prison. Do you know why? Because he was a registered alcoholic. They said he therefore was 'ill' and couldn't help himself!

Ok, I am gonna shut up now and if crew think I have overstepped the mark, please delete any comment you think I shouldn't have said. I recognise this is a touchy area and it is hard for me to look at it rationally.
