1D multi-spot metering

I ask a question in one of Silky's threads about if anybody used this function on the 1D. Here is a link from canon about it. Canon Digital Learning Center - Multi-Spot Metering with Mark III Cameras
Hope this works, I'm not very good on a windows machine. I would like to know if anybody has used it or your ideas and feelings about spot or even center wieghted metering.

Re: 1D multi-spot metering

I do not have a 1D so do not have this option. I almost always use a single spot (or partial spot) for metering as described early in the article and this seems to work well. I would never use centre weighted myself. I once tested centre weighted and it performed much worse than evaluative metering.

Re: 1D multi-spot metering

I use evaluative alot, I need to practice my spot sampleing for a trip as I intent to rap up some heavy shadows and light snapping subjects or objects,,,,,ohhh the ocean, I hope I can find some quite place to take pictures in the most populated state in the USA. I have tried partial spot metering but I haven't quite taken to it. I am supprized that more people haven't given their 2 cents as a good spot metering is worth it's light in shadows. My practice now is to spot meter in AV mode and roll over to manual mode when I have the right exposure I'm looking for and pop off 15 pictures. Seems easy enough sence I am always doing it for IR.
