Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

I Was Looking On Adobe Web Site And Saw They Are Doing A 30 Day Free Trial Of Elements 5. Has Anybody Tried This, Do You Get The Whole Programme In The Trial Or Just Part Of It, What Are The Instructions Like. I Was Thinking Of Trying This Before I Bought It, But Don't Know What The Pitfalls Are , If Any. Any Advice Please Would Be Welcome, Thank You.

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

No real pitfalls, but you will not get a manual. OK, I know they are not that good, but they do give a starting point. Also, you will be tempted to buy it from Adobe, as you alteady have it on the computer, so will then probably pay a higher price.

The advantage is that you can try before you buy. Most software companies offer a free 30 day trial by way of a download.

I'm not sure if you download the trial and then opt to buy a boxed CD from elsewhere, if you'll have to uninstall the trial, or if you can install from the CD over it. No doubt, someone who has already done this will be able to clarify.

I don't know the advantages of 5 over 4 but for most things Elements 4 is just as good as the full blown Photoshop CS2 but you are saving hundreds of pounds.
So go ahead and try Elements 5 then buy after a month !

The "Elements" Photoshop series are cut down versions of the full program.Still very good, but not the real thing. After the 30 day trial you will have to purchase an unlock code from Adobe on-line.I have an old copy of Photoshop 7,and to be honest i never really used all the features. But then that's just me.

Thanks For Your Replies, If I Buy The "boxed" Version, Instead Of Downloading It From Adobe, Does It Come With An Instruction Manual Or Do I Still Have To Buy One. Thanks

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

You ought to get a manual of some sort. As a guide, when I bought Premier Elements 2 it came with a 240 page user guide. Corel Paint Shop Pro X had a 106 page maual, with lots of refernces to the on-line help pages. Pinnacle Studio 9+ had a 289 page user guide. Most software also has an on-line forum where ideas and problems can be discussed, but they are not so hot on tutorials as such. Some software might only offer on-line guide, as it is obviously cheaper than producing a book.

I also bought books on all of these programs to complement the manuals. I know you could forget the 'proper' user guide and go straight onto a book (or two), but as a personal preference, I still like to see the 'proper' guide.

If you chack out Amazon, (and any other similar site), you usually get a 'what's in the box' summary. This ought to list the guide along with the CD(s).

I suspect you will get a better price too. Norton Internet Security 2006 would have cost me about 45 as a download to update my v2005. I bought it on a CD in a box with a manual for 22!!

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

Thanks Graham, I Was Looking On Amazons Site, But It Does Not Say Whether It Comes With The Manual. One More Question I Have To Ask Is, If I Decided To Go For The Free Trial, Then After The Trial Period , I Bought It Elsewhere, When I Try To Delete The Download From My Computer, Will This Affect The Memory Of The Harddrive, Would It Then Be Using Double The Memory Space If I Then Put It On The Computer On A Disc. I Don't Understand Alot About Memory Space. Thanks Again

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

No Woody, when you install from the CD it will still try to put it in the same place, if it doesn't by default, you tell it to. It will then just overwrite the old version. You could just go to your Control Panel>Add/Delete Software and then scroll to Adobe Elements 5, select and delete it. Then put the new version in if you are unsure of how to install into the same directory.

Actually, the other way is likely to be this:
By the full version wherever you want, look inside the box for the registration number and use that to register the version you already have installed. Then stick your CD away somewhere for future use if you need to reinstall it.

Hope that puts your mind at rest.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

Thanks Very Much Rob, You Have Explained Things In Terms I Understand. My Four Year Old Granddaughter Understands Computers Better Than Me.my Daughters Keep Telling Me It's About Time I Came In To The Twenty First Century. I Am Very Grateful To Everyone On Here , As There Is Always Someone There To Help. I Feel Reluctent To Ask A Question Sometimes, As I Think They Are Things That Most Kids Know About Computers. Still If You Don't Ask You Will Never Know. Thanks Again.

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

Woody, I know what you mean about being reluctant to ask a question that you feel is about something that you think you ought to know, or, if you know you don't know, you know that a much younger person will know. Stuff that is unknown can be a real mistery, unless you know, and even then, you might think you know, but in fact you may not know. You know when you think you know something, but deep down you know there is a little uncertainty. Others will think you know, so that makes it even harder to admit not knowing. You know what I mean. If you don't know, I know what I mean. I'm sure that all of our friends out there know too, so maybe one of them can let you know. Then you will know.

Going back to your question, you know that someone here will know, and we know that you wouldn't ask unless you didn't know. Knowing that, someone who does know will tell you what you want to know, so then you will know. You know that makes sense, and you must also know that know-one here is a know-all, and know way would anyone think anything less of you for not knowing.

If that is not clear enough, I'll paraphrase it by saying if there is anywhere that you could ask ANYTHING without fear of ridicule, being looked down on, or anyone being holier than thou (except Vicar, of course), it is here.

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

Woody, the only caution I would add about downloading the trial version is that you may like it and have to have it. A few years ago I downloaded thr trial of the full version of PhotoShop and decided that I coud not do without it so it cost a lot of money (though I did suspect the outcome). However, I did buy a boxed version and uninstalled the dowloaded version before installing the boxed version. I have since upgraded also to another boxed version with no problem. I plan to also purchase Elements 5 for our local Camera Club (we currently have V3).

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

i have recently been given the trail version of Photoshop Elements 5 and i would say buying would be the better option it does come with some features but you mostly have to download the things you need to use which becomes more time consuming than anything and for a person who isn't very patient with computers, like myself , it isn't the best option

Re: Adobe 30 Day Free Trial Elements 5

Hi there all, A very happy New Year , I too have been using the trial 30 day Elements 5. My present graphic software is Adobe 7, Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 pro and Lightroom.
I have found the Auto functions of Elements 5 for a quick fix to be very good and all of the other functions not much better or any more useful than Adobe 7.
What none of the Adobe or any other Photo graphics software do as well as the Micrografx Picture Publisher does is when using the Cloning functions. The ease of use when cloning using Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 is that the active and curser points are shown with the full circle coverage at the cloning source and destination areas.
I defy anyone to acurately clone large areas using the Adobe software because the source only has a + and is impossible to estimate the total area of the cloned source unless its very small, also it would be usefull if the colour of the cloning icons could be changed.. I am retired and getting old but am I missing something or am I so used to the Micrografx Picture Publisher user friendly tools.
Regards Brian Wright
