Advice please on dance show shoot

Hi - I've been asked to 'do the photos' for my daughter's dancing school show. I'm pretty nervous about this. Could anyone give me any pointers on doing this kind of thing?
I will be actually shooting at the dress rehearsal and the show is the week after - I know they are looking for group shots and individual portraits which are to be sold to the parents but with so many kids - should I print off proofs to display after the show, or take a laptop or what?
Any advice greatly appreciated - either in how best to go about the shoot, or managing the ordering and distribution afterwards.
Thanks!

Hand out some Business cards with a phone number, email for ordering and a Web site and/or a flickr/photobucket address or such like and remember to watermark the images. Not ideal but with limited time its probably the best solution. Don't go down the laptop/proofs route, you will be stressed out enough and all kinds of stuff can go awry. Not worth the hassle.

Re: Advice please on dance show shoot

Use your fastest lens, be prepared to up the ISO, support the camera - personally, I'd never recommend flash as results can look unflattering unless you've a full setup

Many moons ago I took my nieces in their dance show using a P&S Fuji - and some of the pics were great. Did use a monopod. So remember that you can use a slowish shutter if there's moments of stillness (there often are!) + slower shutters can give wonderful movement blur (though I'd suggest practising first if you haven't tried before)

For things like this I use Dropbox to upload the public thumbnail images (but I guess you could use FB). And then usually passworded full size so people can do their own printing (I rarely get into the hassle of producing prints myself and then sending), or just email the pics

Brill thanks - my fastest is 50mm 1.8 - hopefully won't have to push ISO up toooooo high for the action shots.
I will also be doing portraits and group shots afterwards so will prob use my bargain-basement set up of offset flash through brolly and reflectors at that stage.
I will look into dropbox too - i have only ever used photobucket
