Ok,

I have an Epson R2400 which has been fine for me up until now. I have always used Epson paper and always use Epson ink, but I have just started using some Lyson satin paper (still using epson ink) and CANNOT get even a close match between the display and the final print... It comes out far far too dark and the yellows are almost red.

I use Photoshop CS, and have tried getting lyson paper profiles for photoshop but if anything they made this worse...

I really don't think it has anything to do with the paper I am using, I think that is just coincidence and have a feeling I must have somehow changed something withing photoshop, but have no idea as to what the settings should look like in the first place.


It's driving me crazy, I have just wasted a whole box of paper and God knows how much ink!

It does sound more than the difference in paper. Can you go back to the original paper and just produce a small test print. If it is very different as you suspect, you will need to check several things.

I would recommend a standard printer nozzle test (in the maintenance part of the printer driver). This will show if any of the inks are blocked. If the problem is in Photoshop, I assume that you mean in the printing process. You should carefully follow the printing process and check all settings. For instance when you select Print with Preview is the Output Profile still the 2400 printer or something else.

You will probably find that there is a difference if you use Lyson paper. Were the profiles which you downloaded from Lyson for the 2400 with Epson ink? I remember looking at Lyson profiles some time ago and they were for Lyson ink and paper.

Personally, I stick to Epson ink and paper and thus obtain consistent results which is important to me. If you use a different combination, you ideally need a bespoke profile. I hope this is of some help.
