anybody used photofast cr-7000

hi all,

i've been sent a link by a friend who thought i might find the product useful or anyone else who may have upgraded from a d40,d60 or d80.it's a compact flash card adapter that will accept sdhc cards,(photofast cr7000) with other adapters taking micro sd cards...just wondered if anyone had bought one or had any thoughts on it....after buying a d300 as my prime body i find i have maybe a dozen sdhc cards laying around, some will be used in my nikon p6000 compact and d90 but it seems a shame not to use them.(it maybe also cheaper than buying bulk loads of compact flash cards)..i know the sd may not be as fast as the lexar udma 300x that i'm using now but its more memory for storage....they seem to be going on flea bay for around the £12 mark so i reckon i will invest and then post a quick update....any comments or thoughts.....the links below...

cheers....

PhotoFast then click on high speed adapter

you dont have to install the language to read..i hope this is posted in the right area

Not sure about SDHC cards, but the ordinary ones had inferior performance to CF cards which is why you will not find cameras with high frame rates and large file sizes being equipped with SD card slots. However, as you say it is more memory, so if the limitations of SD are not an issue I guess some will finf it useful.

Modern SD cards have come on a lot lately, but with memory being so cheap these days I would not have thought that it was worth buying an adaptor. 7Day shop were selling 16GB CF cards for £17.

Just a word of caution against cheap memory cards, my Canon 5D MkII doesn't like them, but it's a happy-chappy with Sandisk extreme III cards.

Re: anybody used photofast cr-7000

Before you part with your money, check out (in no particular order)

Play,com
Picstop
MX2

I'm sure there are others too, but often you will find one will be much cheaper. Watch out for free P&P too - that can make a difference with a higher priced card actually costing less to be delivered. Check out the Suppliers, Shopping and Bargains - Pixalo Photography Community forum where there will probably be some more info, but maybe a bit out of date.

I'd avoid e-bay though - too many fakes going around.
