Anyone ever arranged a meet?
was just thinking ..... yep i know its a rare occurance but hey it happens!.........anyway was just wondering if anyone on here had ever thought to or have done arranged a local meeting for fellow members in the same area? If so was it a success and if not would anyone be into arrangeing or attending on...... i am NOT suggestion that one be arranged ( although it might be an idea) I am just wondering if there has been one/ some/ none...........

Re: Anyone ever arranged a meet?
I have done and been involved in several meets from photography sites and indeed they have all been a great success.
We have had trips to photograph seals (picys) Formula One testing at Silverstone (some piccys mixed in here) and to photograph the animals at chester zoo (more piccys). Unfortunately organising something that interests everyone and is at a central location to enable members to meet up is always a difficult task but they can be done and have been very popular and helpful to the members that have turned up. I think it would be a great idea to start a thread with suggestions of places to go for photography and then take it from there to begin organising a place that suits the majority and a date when most are free... |

Re: Anyone ever arranged a meet?
I have been to one photography meet which was in the lakes, we had a fantastic time!
I have also met up with another member and spent a Sunday morning going round a deserted town ( well it was 7am) The down side is that being in Scotland it makes it a bit more difficult. How about trying to arrange a couple in different areas rather than one central meet, that way hopefully more people from further afield would be able to attend them, anf IF someone wants to travel further then they can as well.? Re: Anyone ever arranged a meet?
We are all for getting the members to meet up and share tips, skills and generally get to know one another. As you say these meets can be very good fun and worth while at the same time. With the internet being a global medium it is far easier to arrange several smaller meets but some people (quite rightly) are wary of meeting up with stranger for the first time and prefer the safety of numbers.
The best way to progress this great idea is to suggest a few locations for meets and ask other members if thay are interested and which place suites them best. From there different members can take over the arrangements for each location and hopefully a few meets will come about? |

Its at this point I back out of the thread as we currently don't have many German members, especially living near or in Munich

Re: Anyone ever arranged a meet?
Buy them a camera, get them onto the site and we'll set up a German meet
![]() Seriously Fiona, just start a thread asking for places of photography interest near to the other members and then take it from there. Once you have a list of places you can then ask for a poll to be setup and we can narrow it down to the most popular for the majority. Then you just ahve to drum up support and find a suitible date...it will either work or it won't but at least you will have given it a go |

but we're planning on going up again this year as we still had an excellent time, maybe spending the night at a local B&B (it's a 4 hour drive from her place ).![]() |

Re: Anyone ever arranged a meet?
I'd suggest starting off regional. ie had a few different threads for different parts of the UK. That way us jocks don't loose interest in a thread touting a day out at silverstone while you southern *grandma edit* don't have to find polite ways of declining a trip to the western isles.

Re: Anyone ever arranged a meet?
I've been on, even organised, meets.
![]() Still even see some of those I met on them! I'm up for pretty much anywhere on LHS UK (Wales, West, NW) and/or far RHS (East Angliia). Prefer landscapey/macroey/naturey rather than fluffy (not keen on captive animals, for instance) |
