Anyone Still Using RawShooter?

Hi Everyone,

While I have used digital cameras for a while, am just starting out using RAW.

Would like to start out simple so was really impressed with the RawShooter tests and reviews I could find.

I like the RS design goals of Excellent raw conversion, Simplicity, Easy workflow, and intuitive use for photographers. Art of RAW Conversion #018 @Digital Outback Photo

Is anyone still using RawShooter?

If so would appreciate any suggestions, or tips.

Regards,

Ken

Re: Anyone Still Using RawShooter?

Sorry - Rawshooter's developers (Pixmantec) were bought out in 2006 (?) by Adobe who promptly scrapped it, even before Lightroom was at release stage. There were no further updates for RS so cameras after that date are not supported.

Many people (including me) were fans of Rawshooter but had to move on to other things. I used Bibble up to recently but now use Aperture.

I honestly couldn't recommend getting into Rawshooter at this stage, due to the lack of support and updates.

Rawshooter was an excellent program but is long dead and gone. It was replaced by Adobe Lightroom an even better program and I am very happy using it to process my RAW files. You can get a free trial download.

Re: Anyone Still Using RawShooter?

I used to use it 3 years ago and it was good in its time. However, the Adobe takeover and scrapping has resulted in new cameras not being supported but also other Raw converters have developed with many improved features. I would not recommend this dead end.

Re: Anyone Still Using RawShooter?

Hi silkstone, colinmac, and Dave Canon,

Thank you for answering.

silkstone concerning "couldn't recommend getting into Rawshooter at this stage, due to the lack of support and updates" not a problem. I inherited an older digital camera that is supported so until save up for a new Canon 5D Mark II will be OK.

Just hope someone here still uses it!

Regards,

Ken
