Avatar
I am trying to create an Avatar in photoshop, but I cant get down to the size stipulated of 9.8Kb. I am now down to the size of a pin head, but still 10.7Kg.I am using a photograph cut in half with a name down the side. Any ideas? Bobinstow |

Re: Avatar
Hi Bob + welcome to pixalo
![]() You will have to downsize the quality of the image, as well as the size. If you get stuck with doing this, shout again

Re: Avatar
Not sure what steps you have taken already, but if you are using Photoshop or Elements, check to make sure you are saving
1) "for the web" 2) as a jpeg 3) and in addition to the physical dimensions, make sure you are saving at 72 pixels per inch. There are different ways of doing all that if you are using a non Adobe product, like Picassa... If the above wasn't helpful let us know what program you are using so more specific advice can be given...

Re: Avatar
Have you resized the picture down to 80 pixels x 80 pixels or less?

Re: Avatar
Bob, are you defintely using "save for web" instead of "save as" option ? Reason being, the latter always adds some extra K to files when saving .

Re: Avatar
If you are still struggling with this, you can put the picture into your gallery space here so that we can all access it and one of the Crew or members will take a look for you

Re: Avatar
Try saving your avatar as a GIF file ......that should work for sure.
I've just recently been through the same drama. Cheers, Jim. |

Re: Avatar
Glad you reminded me Bob, I have been meaning to change my avatar for a while, getting seriously bored with my old one. So, let's see whether people like this one
![]() Glad you got yours sorted ok. I was going to say to you to use Save for web and use GIF because in CS3 it saves gifs better than ever before ... but you have sorted it so I won;t bother telling you now <g> Cheers, Rob |
