Backpacking Equipment
Just wanted to throw this out and see if I could poll any experience from you guys.
Most of my photography is nature, as I plan to take my cameras with me on all of my backpacking trips. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any camera bags that are a) large enough to carry my camera and at least 2 lenses (or camera and lens, plus one lens) b) small enough to carry _with_ a backpack or c) if it's a backpack, large enough to carry my camera and tent, bag, change of clothes, stove, and any other misc. backpacking gear. Anyone here found something good for backpacking?

Re: Backpacking Equipment
Hi trashcan,
I have been pondering a similar problem myself and haven'y decided which way to go. I have been looking at Lowepro beltpacks. This would mean you could carry your normal backpack with your camping gear, but have your camera gear safe and close to hand.... This is an option I'm looking at to prepare myself for the rapidly approaching summer!!! Hope this helps. Matt |

Re: Backpacking Equipment
You might be able to attach your tent, stove, cloths etc to any of the Lowepro or Tamrac backpacks but I am not sure how bulky or heavy it would all be
An alternative maybe would be for your camping equipment on your back and a toploader with aditional add ons for another lens etc on a chest harness.........maybe this would balance the weight and give easy acces to your camera when you are out backpacking. |

Re: Backpacking Equipment
Do what I do: backpack (Tamrac) on back, camera bag (Tamrac) attached to shoulder harness at front.
I do it so that all lenses, batteries, filters, etc are to hand, so don't need to stop to change lenses , or whatever! Carry tripod on back - 'til I use for the first time and then tend to put it on it's shoulder strap Saw those Kata bags recently - they are lovely tho, as erick says, very expensive |
