Borneo Rain Forest?

I was feelin fed up with the weather, so in a moment of madness I have booked a last minute trip to Malaysia and Borneo. We will be climbing Mt Kinabalu but also staying for just over a week in a Nature reserve. As always it's lens choice I'd like to keep the weight down and in the past in rain forests I'd leave the 300 at home (I'll take a tcon for last resort) but I'd be interested to hear from someone who has been as to how thick the cover is.

Re: Borneo Rain Forest?

Not been myself Vinny, but read from someone who had that it was no good for long zooms,to dense and to take the fastest lense you had, because of the gloom under the tree,s ( and for newbie togs) you need a fast lens to escape the apes, boom boom.
No sorry, a fast lens just means one with a big aperture IE 1.8 or at least 2.8
To get anything like a decent shutter speed 30th -60th sec,I,m blabering on know arent I

Thanks sounds good advice, might need something longer now I know the Grand Prix is in KL whilst I am there.

Re: Borneo Rain Forest?

I don't know as I have never been but I would imagine that moisture and rain could be the biggest hurdle you'll have to overcome as far as your photography is concerned. Electronics and water don't mix to well so I would take whatever steps you can to protect your equipment while still enjoying your holiday and photography.

Re: Borneo Rain Forest?

..... unfortunately the Travel agent had also not realised the Grand Prix was on so the trip has fallen out of bed.
