Unhappy Camera Jargon

What do people meen by the term 'ISO 200' for example when they talk about film, is it the same as on digital cameras as it refers to sensor sensitivity???

Effectively, yes! But it did start the other way around - ISO or DIN was used to determine the sensitivity of film. When digital came along, the same description was used (presumably so that film users would understand)

Re: Camera Jargon

Often I wish digicams had ASA25 like the old Ectachrome or Agfapan, not for better grain etc just given the problems with small apertures; it would save having to use NDs so often.

Re: Camera Jargon

Vinny.

My old Sony DSC-F828 shot natively at ISO 64. Nice crisp and clean images at that setting. Of course, the pixel density (2 microns) meant that shooting anything over ISO200 resulted in a wodge of noise. I daren't even mention what ISO 800 looked like on that camera!
