canon mg5550 printer

Hi every one, When you refill a cartridge and replace it, it still says it is empty but it is full is there any way this can be sorted out, I know its something to do with the chip on the cartridge. If I closed down the printer and deleted it off my computer and re set it up again would that take away all the chip numbers off so it would show that the cartridge is full again. I've been told to put 4 new lots in then the refilled ones back in and it did not work (very costly), all cartridge's used are canon.

Re: canon mg5550 printer

Hi tigerbarb, are you re-filling them yourself or using "compatible" cartridges from an established supplier? If the latter I would return them as not fit for purpose.
I never use anything but genuine new Canon ink cartridges because of the risks of variations in colour, blockages, and chip related problems.
Unless you are doing a lot of printing I am not convinced refills are worth it, A set of genuine new inks on my A3 printer last me around 3 months (about 20 prints) although I sometimes find the magenta and cyan run out quicker.
Therefor unless you do huge print runs I would recommend sticking to original cartridges, or the Epson system of large "bottles" of ink connected by tubes if you do large runs.(cant remember the proper name for them).
Hope this helps.

Re: canon mg5550 printer

Yes I understand what you have said, the bottle cartridge ciss I have received yesterday are the canon ones hope they work. I refill the canon ones and it still shows empty but they still print, I was told to get 4 new lots to get rid of the numbers on the printer and that didn't work ether, it would be nice to get it sorted if possible not only for me but other people. Thank you for your info.
