Re: Changeing megger pixels on a camera

You can't change the MP on your camera. This is fixed by the sensor. What I think that you want to do is to change the file size.

If you are shooting in jpeg, you should be able to change the image size to small, medium or large. Then you can select the quality between fine, standard and low (or whatever Fuji call them). Some cameras will give you more than three choices.

You can combine any two of these settings and they will give you different file sizes.

All of these settings should be in a menu somewhere, maybe the set up menu or the shooting menu.

Re: Changeing megger pixels on a camera

Hi Graham
Thank you for the information, I must have got mixed up with what I was doing at my beginners course, I can resize pictures on the computer to print but there was some thing to with the camera and it might be what you have told me to do so the memory card can save more pictures.

Re: Changeing megger pixels on a camera

From a personal point of view I'd always use the highest quality settings and if necessary get a bigger capacity memory card. They are cheap as chips these days. Just check what the highest capacity card the camera will take before you buy.

I usually use cards that will give me around 200 pictures. That meant a 1GB card on my Nikon D70s and 4GB on the D300 and D700.

Hi Graham
That is a question I carn't answer at the moment as I've never filed the card I think the most I've taken is about 40 to 50 as I'm still learning.

Doesn't the camera tell you how many shots there are remaining?

Just curious as to why you feel the need to get more images on the card.

Re: Changeing megger pixels on a camera

My bet is you need more space on your laptop. For shooting learning pictures, use small if you have to keep some. For keepers, use high quality and some how some where get a memory stick to save and keep for future reference. If that wasn't or have anything to do with it,,,oh well.

Re: Changeing megger pixels on a camera

Hi Graham
Don't need to get more images on the memory card as I have one 4gb and two 2gb for the camera, in the beginners course, just got lost trying to understand what it was about, now know mine is set to (9M) which is the highest quality and biggest image size and the M stands for the megger pixels hope I've got it right now.

Excuse me jumping in here....

The two functions do the same thing?

No. One changes the image size, the other the image quality. So you could have a low quality large image or a high quality small image that have similar file sizes, and the file size determines how many images you can get on a memory card.
