Question Clickpic vs Photium

Has anyone an opinion as to which is best of these 2 (clickpic & photium) for creating a website for photography, with ability to sell images online ?

Any pro's & con's for each ?

Re: Clickpic vs Photium

Hi Dave, as you know I have been using Clikpic for almost a year now and whilst it served most of my needs quite well I had a few issues with bulk uploading, either each picture could be uploaded individually or there was a batch upload facility but I then had to manually assign each image to a folder or gallery. When you have maybe 200 images per week to display it got very tedious and time consuming particularly after a full day shooting.

I've been trialling Photium for the last few weeks and found the functionality very good and allround it just seems easier to use, especially if you end up with a lot of Galleries as I did (due to varying classes at shows etc). Photium also allows 2000 images as opposed to 1200 with Clikpic for around the same price.

If you are just using it as a display vehicle for your talents and are not bothered about regular uploading of multiple images then I think it will just come down to personal preference as to design.

With regard to selling images, both give you the ability to sell via Paypal so nothing to choose between them.

My new Photium website (still in development!)

My old Clikpic site

Hope this helps and let me know if you need any more info.

Re: Clickpic vs Photium

Hi Dave

I'm with photium & I have to say it's a very easy site to run, which is why I use it. It took about a month from setting up the site & adding meta tags to get me to the top of google searches & so far since August, I've had over 130K views.

I do get a bit of spam via the guestbook and comment pages, but I email Will & he sorts it within 24 hours. But it never gets to the site as I have it set to manually approve any comments etc.

For my sports work, it's a great window & the comments from people have all been about how easy it is to navigate. Only downside, I would like perhaps 500 shots instead of 300 for the £80.00.

Sarah

Hi Sarah, good looking site you have there, I really like the big picture on your home page. Having seen yours I might have to have a play with the background colours on mine.

Re: Clickpic vs Photium

Thanks Hacker, sent a link to british cycling from it the other day, they've emailed back after looking at the site & have offered me a trial at covering a national event! Gulp! Ok cycling events are not that huge in the uk, but, I've got to think about how far I'll travel & what sort of event I would prefer.

Have to say I like your photium site, and they do seem easier to navigate. Great horse shots.
