Question Cokin P Series ND Grad Kit

Starting to enjoy taking landscape pictures and thought I would get the Cokin P Series ND Grad kit. Ordered it through warehouse express and then got informed they were out of stock
Any ideas where to look next. Ideally UK to avoid shipping costs.

Re: Cokin P Series ND Grad Kit

I've just looked at Jacobs, Bristol Cameras and Picstop, and they are all out of stock of the ND grad kit.

You could put one together from the components - you probably won't need more than two or three filters plus the holder and adapter rings.

There has been talk of them fixing the colour cast on the ND grads. Maybe they are restocking.

Re: Cokin P Series ND Grad Kit

I've just bought a set of SRB's own brand that turn out to be HiTech

£12.50 each or £46 for a set of four from memory

They recommend Kood adaptors that are about half the price of Cokin.

If you are really set on Cokin, they also stock them.

Everything is on their web site. They are based in Bedfordshire.

The cast issues are apparently due to the Cokins being batch checked, rather than individually checked.

Is HiTech better than Cokin?

I already have the P series holder so perhaps it is best to get individuals. Would the HiTech fit in the holder? : confused-

and which ND Grads would be best?

Re: Cokin P Series ND Grad Kit

Pete, I bought mine from Fotosense. I've just checked + they have the ND Grad Kit in stock + available for next day delivery for £42.51 exc. VAT plus p&p.

As the item is mostly unavailable though, I would agree that the kit is probably being upgraded + suppliers are awaiting stock of the (presumably) revamped kit. Might be worth waiting for, or it might not, and who knows how long you might have to wait. Decisions, decisions

If you look around on the net, the Cokin cast issue does appear quite a lot, and HiTech seem to get approval. However, this is in no way scientific, and I have no idea if one is better than the other.

I think all 'P' size filters will be standard, so ought to fit any 'P' size holder.

If you do not want a full set, the .6 (2x) and .9 (3x) are probably the most useful - you can combine them too. The other strengths in the set are .3 (1x) and 1.2 (4x)
