College Course...?
Hiya People
I would really like to particpate in a college course to further my self taught skills and find likeminded local enthusiasts maybe. Anyway my question is this.. Does anyone have first hand experience of colleges and organisations local to London (i am in North London) that have a good reputation without ripping my arm off I have found various ones local to me but cannot find the first bit of information to guide me in the right direction as to what is good and bad etc ( am i being thick here )anyway i would really appreciate others experiences etc Thanks in advance

Re: College Course...?
Might be worth checking out what evening courses are available, they tend to be good value. City & Guilds are at the top of the tree, but there are others to be had too. Angela went on a 12 week one, (on the other side of London) but did not think it was very good.
There may be a club in the area. You can learn a lot from these too. |

Re: College Course...?
I did indeed do a 12 week course and, on paper, it should have been exactly what I needed. It was an introduction to SLR photography and also covered dark room skills. Unfortunately we had a lousy teacher. Lovely guy but not terribly organised and he kept flitting from topic to topic without really covering any of them in detail.
If you can get to speak to the course tutor, you might find that helps. Or, as Graham suggests, find a local club and see if they have any recommendations. |

Re: College Course...?
I did the City & Guilds basic course last year, but even being self taught, I found that I had learned most of it over the years, so not much help in that way, but it was nice to meet other local people. I' m thinking of joining a local camera club.
